HISTORY
The Platform Youth is a 501 (c) 3 non-profit organization that focuses on College and Career Development by exposing students to the STEM industry, entrepreneurship, the arts, multi-media industry, job training, and leadership development. Founded in 2009, The Platform Youth provides activities and programs designed to give Houston’s disadvantage youth a fighting chance for a better future, through. In 2009, a group of concerned citizens, led by Community Leader and former Youth Pastor DeVale Simmons, came together to form The Platform Youth as a way to help at-risk and disadvantage teenagers stay connected to their career path and thrive in their difficult surroundings. The Platform Youth has provided programming for over 2,400 students since it’s inception. The Platform Youth partners with Houston Independent School District’s middle and high schools to reach their most at-risk students.
